Laurel Wood House

The owners of this two-story Georgian Colonial style home, is nestled in the hills where West Hollywood and Studio City meet on either side of this Laurel Canyon residence. It boasts sprawling natural and city views of Los Angeles. The ideal location provides the couple, their son and often extended family, with the best of country and city living. A home reminiscent to those in the East Coast, with its tall peaked roofs, double fireplaces on either end of the house, siding with stone finishes and grand porches. The renovation lovingly began by re-working the upper level of the house which consisted of converting one of the four upper bedrooms into a master bathroom. A walk-thru closet bridges the master bedroom and master bath room and also provides additional closet space. A hall linen closet was reconfigured in order to enlarge the upper guest bathroom to fit a claw tub and provide the toilet with its own space. The staircase, heading to the lower level of the house, had been stripped to discover the existing stone beneath the paint. The den had existing book cases that needed to be refinished. A new fireplace mantel and brick face was added, as well as a fully integrated sound system, new lighting, wood floors, windows and doors throughout the home. French doors that open out to a new wooden porch overlook the front garden and provide charming views during the day. At night, the view is a divine starry sky above Los Angles. This residential project is a work in progress, as the plans for a new kitchen are still on the drawing board.
